The beloved French children’s books series about Nicholas and his array of friends is finally depicted on the silver screen. For more the 50 years, the sensational stories featuring Nicholas and his frantic classmates have entertained generations of children around the world.

After the film, you can attend a lecture on the relationship between literature and film. The length of the accompanying program is 45 minutes.

 

Pinocchio

Geppetto the woodcarver raises a puppet come to life named Pinocchio as his own son. Pinocchio, however, is hardly the most exemplary boy and is easily drawn in by rogues, with whom he experiences countless thrilling adventures. One day he is tricked, kidnapped and chased by bandits through a mysterious world full of incredible monsters – from the belly of a giant fish, he arrives in a land of toys and a field of miracles. Will Pinocchio escape and fulfil his dream of becoming a real boy?

The Sound is Innocent

Czech Republic, Slovakia, France. 2019 / 68 min. Director: Johana Ožvold. Documentary. Czech, English and French with English and Czech subtitles.

A playful and poetic journey into the dream world of recording studios, electronic music and experimental sound. In her feature debut, Johana Ožvold guides viewers through a mysterious research institution.

After the film, you can visit a guided tour of the exhibition Man – Instrument – Music in the Czech Museum of Music. The duration of the tour is 60 minutes.

Two Roads

Czech Republic. 2019 / 80 min. Director: Radovan Síbrt. Cast: Šimon Ornest, Ladislav Angelovič, Jana Augustinová, Petr Tomek, Jiří Holzmann. Czech version

Twenty-one years ago, Šimon Ornest founded a music club at the Jedlička Institute, for people with disabilities. Today, their band called The Tap Tap is quite well known. Two Roads tells the history of the band, and Ornest’s relationship with the musicians.

After the film, there will be a meeting and discussion with the filmmakers. The length of the discussion is up to 45 minutes.
